The Sterling® Coilmaker Plastic Coil Former
Producing plastic coil immediately before insertion eliminates issues related to twisted, deformed coils or coils with improper pitch. Freshly made coil binds books more efficiently compared to pre-packaged coil. By cutting the filament to the exact length as needed, you can minimize waste, reduce excess, and eliminate storage concerns. Moreover, manufacturing coil on-site is significantly more cost-effective than purchasing preformed coil.
The STERLING® COILMAKER produces high-quality plastic coil from plastic filament by utilizing an advanced system of three axles that press the filament against the forming mandrel during the coil formation process. Unlike other machines that use only two axles—often resulting in “wobble” and non-uniform roundness, especially for larger coils—this technology ensures precision and consistency. As a result, the COILMAKER is responsible for producing the majority of plastic coil used in the United States.
Its patented conveyor system allows for adequate cooling time, ensuring the coil is uniform and straight, rather than twisted in storage. Additionally, the adjustable heating element adapts to varying ambient temperatures, optimizing coil production in any environment. Tooling for coil sizes up to 50 mm is also available for the COILMAKER.
